Nature really flexed here an entire beach made of popcorn rocks, like Iceland’s cousin who brought snacks to the party.

    2. It is called perlite.

In cannabis-cultivation it is used as soil amendment or alone as a medium for hydroponics or for starting cuttings. When used as an amendment, it has high permeability and low water retention and helps prevent soil compaction.

Fun fact if you remove any of that and take it with you it’s actually illegal by Canary Island law

    4. So this is where they mine the materials for popcorn ceilings!

It must have run dry; let the renewed interest begin!

Well, it’s been a good run teeth, but it’s time to say bye for now.. come on, we both knew it would end this way.

We go to this beach every summer! There are signs around that explain what it is and that it’s illegal to remove. There are very stiff fines if you are caught with it

White/cream color + rounded gravel + beach setting = biological carbonate. On Fuerteventura it’s mostly broken shells, coralline algae, and forams, slowly rounded by wave action.
